Emergency Response Plan Training

Orientation Training
Do you know what is in your emergency response plan and how it should work?
Orientation training is designed to familiarize new team members with emergency response, business continuity and crisis communications plans. This can be done with as many or few people as necessary.
Tabletop Exercise
Do you know that discussing the response using a suitable scenario makes you more effective in the event of an actual emergency?
Emergency managers rely on the simulation of emergencies as a crucial means of improving emergency plans and training emergency personnel.
Tabletop exercises are discussion-based sessions where team members meet in an informal, classroom setting to discuss their roles during an emergency and their responses to a particular emergency situation.
A facilitator guides participants through a discussion of one or more scenarios. The duration of a tabletop exercise depends on the audience, the topic being explored and the exercise objectives. Many tabletop exercises can be conducted in a few hours and are cost-effective tools to validate your plans and capabilities.
Communication Exercise
Do you know that communication breakdown is one of the biggest hurdles during an emergency?
Communication exercises are considered “expanded tabletop exercises” and focus on the internal and/or external communication required during an incident.
The scope of these exercises can vary greatly and may include internal communication, public notification, as well as external agency and social media communication.
Functional Exercise
Do you know that mobilizing personnel and equipment in a dry run helps you identify areas for improvement?
Functional exercises allow personnel to validate plans and readiness by performing their duties in a simulated operational environment.
The exercises are designed to engage specific team members, procedures and resources (e.g. communications, warning, notifications and equipment set-up), but they do not typically include outside agencies or stakeholders.
Major Exercise
Do you know that practicing response while collaborating with support agencies using a realistic scenario is the best way to prepare for an actual emergency?
A major exercise is as close to the real thing as possible. It takes place on location using equipment and personnel that would be called upon in a real event. Major exercises are conducted in conjunction with public agencies and regulatory authorities. They often include participation from local stakeholders.

Specialty Training

Roles and Responsibilities Training
Do you know that focused responsibility training builds responder confidence?
This program helps prepare potential response team members to fill assigned roles. The training will help to sharpen management skills and better equip responders to be fully effective during an incident.
Roadblock Training
There’s a lot more to setting up a roadblock than placing a couple of pylons across a road.
Field training allows experienced personnel to set up equipment and perform roadblock functions in a realistic environment.
Reception Training
Often, your receptionist is the first point of contact during an emergency.
This training prepares your receptionist team to accept, document and manage emergency telephone calls while remaining calm and professional. This training facilitates awareness by simulating live incoming telephone calls.
Telephone Team Training
Your telephone team can have a positive impact on community relations during an emergency. Help them be ready.
Once activated in an emergency response, it is the responsibility of the telephone team to contact area stakeholders. The telephone team contacts and maintains communication with directly impacted members of the public in order to keep them informed of the situation and actions to be taken.
This training reviews communication strategies, documentation protocols and simulates an effective communication plan by emulating live telephone calls.

Incident Command System Training

The Incident Command System is a framework that provides a consistent, internationally accepted approach for governments, industry and emergency responders to work effectively together to prepare for, respond to and recover from incidents regardless of size or complexity.
Emergency response awareness continues to be an area of focus and concern for government officials, healthcare providers, public safety personnel, industry and taxpaying citizens.
Black Gold is proud to offer accredited ICS training from instructors with hands-on emergency management experience. Learn more about specific ICS modules below.

Who Should Take This Training?

Personnel with any private or public organization who may be required to respond to incidents at their location and liaise with local emergency services should take the accredited ICS training.
The ICS training program is invaluable for your crisis management team to effectively understand and liaise with tactical responders on site.
